 NEW Block of the Month!

Invite your friends to join you!

We're really excited about our NEW Tayo's Block of the Month!  The pattern is 'Pieceful Nights' designed by Lori Smith. The finished quilt - if made like the pattern - will be 64" square.  This quilt is entirely pieced.

Time: This Block of the Month will go for 6 months - January thru June 2009.  Meetings will all be held on the 3rd Tuesday morning of each month (from 10-noon) and on the 3rd Thursday evenings of each month from 5-6:30 pm.  Demos will be every half hour. You may come to any of the demos during the month.  Demos will include hints and tips for cutting, sewing and assembling the blocks and also info about new products, classes and events at Tayo's.

Pattern: You must purchase the pattern from Tayo's for $16 and it includes all cutting and sewing instructions for each block and also cutting, sewing and assembly instructions for the entire quilt.  Each person participating in Tayo's BOM MUST have their own copy of this pattern (no sharing!).

Colors: We will only do one colorway.  See the picture displayed on our website or at Tayo’s.

Blocks: We will be doing 2 different blocks (A & B) each month.  You can choose to do 1 (A) or 2 (A & B) blocks.  The first block (A) would be your BOM Block (if you've finished the block from the previous month and personally bring it in to Tayo's during the specified demo times - and stay for the demo! - you will get your next month's block A for free).  If you haven't completed your block or are unable to attend one of our demos during the month - you will need to pay $5 for the next month's kit. The second block (B) will be your alternate block - you will always pay $5 each month if you choose to do the B kit.

Extra Kits: We will have kits and a class is scheduled for the center square and setting which will be optional. We will also have a finishing kit (outside border and binding) available for purchase.  If you choose to do only the 6 BOM blocks – the pattern includes alternate projects you can make (tablerunners, small quilts, etc) and also will have setting ideas for just using the 12 blocks without the additional center Star and outer borders.

How to start!....Call or come in to Tayo's to sign up and pay for your pattern and the beginning 1 or 2 blocks for the January meeting. If you haven't signed up in advance - you can still come to the first meetings - but we can't guarantee to have enough blocks for everyone (although we always try to have some extras available).

Rules:  They're pretty simple.....

You pay $16 for your own copy of the pattern

You pay $5 for the first block (A) - and another $5 if you choose to do the alternate block (B) each month

You bring your completed first block (A) to Tayo's during the scheduled demo times, stay and watch the demo and then receive the kit for your next month's block free.

If you want to do the B block also - you will always pay $5 each month for that kit.

Have fun and learn some new quilting tips!

BLANKETS FOR PREEMIES

These blankets are for the Sutter Roseville NICU.  A blanket on top of an isolette helps retain warmth, muffles noises and allows parents to easily identify their baby.  When the newborn is big enough, the blanket is there for cuddling and then goes home with the baby.

Bring supplies to make a blanket of your choice and potluck dish to share.  Finished blankets are 36”x36”.  Quilters, knitters, crocheters and those who work with fleece are welcome.  This is a good opportunity for your people looking to fulfill community service requirements.

If you would like to donate supplies or participate on your own at home – more info is available at Tayo’s….

Fri, Mar 20, Apr 17    Noon-4

No charge – but pre-registration is appreciated
